I founded the Delaware Tech Finance Club in January of 2024 to serve as a collaborative hub of individuals with a shared interest in finance and business. Our club aims to provide a platform for students to engage in practical financial discussions, education, experience finance and business through a real-world application. Given the economic diversity of the Delaware Tech campus, I wanted to create a club that could provide practical and accessible financial and business knowledge and resources tailored to the needs of the student body.
In the club, I serve as President and develop and lead comprehensive PowerPoint presentations on financial and business-related topics ranging from the time value of money and financial markets to personal finance to help members understand the power of investing and starting early. We also cover current events and economic topics to help members get an understanding of the current economic landscape and the forces affecting markets.
Our club offers a variety of activities, including networking workshops, guest lectures, interactive discussions that cover essential topics, and our $10,000 investment simulator portfolio that we invest in as a group. Last semester, we achieved a 6.71% return over a 5-month investing period through a diverse portfolio of stocks and ETF's. During that period, we outperformed the S&P 500 by 0.82%.
Since starting the club, we have grown it to over 25+ unique members across various majors at the school. As the founder of the Delaware Tech Finance Club, I am dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where all students feel empowered to explore their interests in finance and business.
